Arrangements are well in hand for the holding of the 2017 CMI Assembly with preceding CMI/AIDIM Seminar, in Genoa on 8 September 2017.  Both events will take place in stunning historical buildings on the Piazza de Ferrari , a short walk up the Via XX Settembre to the Hotel Bristol Palace.*  This elegant hotel is to be the venue for meetings of the CMI Executive Council and of the CMI Working Groups and International Subcommittees due to take place on 7 September, the day before the Assembly.

THURSDAY, 7 SEPTEMBER

Welcome reception for all delegates and their accompanying persons, from 19h30 at the Genoa Aquarium.

friday, 8 september

On Friday 8 September, before the afternoon Assembly, there will be a half day Seminar at The Sala del Minor Consiglio of the Doge’s Palace (a short walk from the hotel) hosted by the CMI with the Italian MLA, at which distinguished speakers will deal with topical issues of maritime law which are likely to include:

·       Bunker litigation update

·       Off Shore activities update

·       Refugee Migration at Sea update

·       Ship Financing update

A networking lunch will be served for all delegates at the Doge’s Palaceafter which the CMI Assembly will convene a short walk away in the magnificent Old Stock Exchange Building.

Concurrently with the Assembly, and staying at the Doge’s Palace, there will be a further seminar organised and presented jointly by the CMI and AIDIM Young Persons Committees.  The theme of the seminar is likely to include a discussion of legal implications of the Ballast Water Convention (that is due to enter force that very day).

Because running this seminar concurrently with the Assembly is unavoidable, there will be an audio visual recording of the yCMI/yAIDIM seminar.

SOCIAL PROGRAMME

An exciting social programme is being arranged with a reception on the evening of Thursday 7 September at the Acquario in Genoa, located in the old harbour area.  It is one of the largest acquaria in Europe.  A closing dinner will be held on Friday 8 September at Villa Lo Zerbino, a 17th C stately home in the centre of Genoa, surrounded by beautiful gardens.

host city - genoa

Genoa offers many and various attractions to explore and enjoy.  Tours will be organised for accompanying persons, and a post Assembly tour calendar will also be proposed.  Genoa is situated in a beautiful part of Italy, and arranging the CMI events over the Thursday and Friday allows visitors from abroad at least the weekend free.  But why not stay for longer?  Portofino is just around the corner, and the gorgeous Amalfi Coast and Florence not far away.

Of Genoa, the New York Times in April 2017 wrote Genoa isn't Venice or Rome or Florence - that's part of its charm.  Read the article here - and pack your bags for September!
